100 YEARS OF SOLITUDE

2022

White Oak, Walnut, Glass

My initial venture into fusing Magical Realism with furniture design stemmed from a unique challenge: creating a dedicated reading space for a single book. Immediately, I gravitated towards Gabriel García Márquez's 1967 masterpiece, "100 Years of Solitude.” In Latin America, this book holds such significance that it's often likened to our literary bible.

I envisioned the chair as a throne for the reader, cradling them as a tangible bridge to the world of García Márquez. Much like how church windows depict biblical scenes, the central stained-glass panel summarizes my visual interpretation of “100 Years of Solitude.”
